I have just moved to Bowling Green with my husband Adam who will be teaching Psychology at WKU. We have lived in 5 states in 4 years, and I am anxious to get settled. I can already tell that BG is going to be a terrific place for us to put down some roots. The SWMS family has been very welcoming, and their passion for teaching and love for one another has been immediately evident.

Having moved frequently, I have had a broad range of experience working with individuals with disabilities, including conducting education research, providing independent living support services to adults, and working as a special education teacher teaching resource, life skills, behavior, and transition.

2016-2017 - High School Behavior and Life Skills Teacher - Arcata, California

2015-2016 - Assistant Researcher - University of Kansas: Project coordinator on a study to develp and validate a new assessment to measure self-determination, the Self-Determination Inventory (SDI)

2014-2015 - Middle School Life Skills Teacher - Franklinton, Louisiana

2013-2014 - Elementary Resource Teacher - Flagstaff, Arizona

2008-2013 - Personal Support Worker - Portland, Oregon: Provided support services to adults with disabilities to support independent living, including: Housing, Medical, Financial and Social/Leisure

I am passionate about disability rights and education advocacy to improve the continuum of services available to support inclusion and self-determination in our public schools. I attended University of Oregon (BA International Studies and Political Science), Portland State University (MA Special Education), and University of Kansas (Continuing education, Transition Services). Outside of work, I am interested in learning new languages, travel, hiking, and exploring the outdoors.

At South Warren Middle School I will be helping to implement the PASS program. I believe strongly in the benefits of inclusive educational opportunities, both behaviorally and academically, and I am excited to work beside the terrific SWMS staff to make our vision a reality.
