Want to Join Band?

I would love that ALL students be in band class!  You do not have to be a child prodigy to be in band and do well.  All you have to do is listen to instructions and work hard!  That's what makes the best musicians!

If you are a 7th grader, here are the rules for joining band in 7th grade:

  • You must come talk to me (Ms. Spears) before signing up for band!
  • If you have prior music experience (piano lessons, guitar, etc.) and can read music well, that is ideal!
  • If you have no prior music experience, we can help you!  7th grade band is a lot like being in your first year of playing.  I have had several students join 7th grade band without ever having played an instrument before with great success!!

If you are an 8th grader, here are the rules for joining band in 8th grade:

  • You must come talk to me (Ms. Spears) before signing up for band!
  • If you have prior music experience (piano lessons, guitar, etc.) and can read music well, this is ideal, especially for 8th grade!
  • If you have no prior music experience, you will need to take lessons to catch back up with the rest of the class.  This is because the jump from 7th to 8th grade is very drastic and is more difficult to catch back up in class.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask!!

Being in band is one of the best decisions I ever made and has made my life much better than it would have been otherwise, and I would like that for all of you!!
