Getting to Know the Teacher: Ms. Way

Mrs. Lecoffre 2018 JLecoffre Photo

    • My favorite books include the Harry Potter series, The Little Prince, The Giver, The Great Gatsby, and The Catcher in the Rye. Of course, I love to laugh myself silly while we read some of the best Junie B. Jones books, too!
    • I have traveled to many different states and countries, and I love exploring new cities with my family. There are many places I'd still love to see, so my bucket list is very long!
    • I enjoy playing ukulele and guitar both inside and outside of the classroom. I need lots of practice to master these instruments, and I am loving every minute of the journey!
    • I completed the Flying Pig Marathon in May 2018.
    • I LOVE polar bears, iced coffee, pizza, tennis, pink, and 80s music!
    • My all-time favorite bands are Queen, Foreigner, and Def Leppard, but I'm the kind of person who will exclaim how "I LOVE THIS SONG!" when I hear each song from my top playlist!
    • I am not from Bowling Green, but I am from Kentucky! I grew up in Pulaski County near the city of Somerset.
    • I am a ridiculously proud member of the Rockfield Rêveur House! I'm a Dreamer, through and through.

Gatsby and Holden

  • I have an Old English Sheepdog named Gatsby and an adopted dog from the Humane Society named Holden. I call them my "book boys" because they are named after characters from two of my favorite novels listed above.
    • My pups love chasing birds, snacking on peanut butter, playing fetch, and taking naps in cool places! They clearly love mischief, too.

  • I graduated from Western Kentucky University in December 2014.
    • I completed the final month of my student teaching at Anne Frank Gymnasium and Wiehagenschule in Werne, Germany.
    • I began teaching at the Rock in January 2015.
    • I taught 6th grade during the spring semester of 2015 and the 2015-2016 school year. I began teaching 3rd grade during the 2016-2017 school year and continued there through 2021.
    • I LOVE teaching 6th grade and I am VERY excited to continue our adventure during the 2021-2022 school year at Rockfield!
    • I believe that movement makes the magic happen, so we will use our hands, bodies, and voices in class a LOT. Ready to ROCK? Ready to ROLL!
  • I enjoy spending time with my fantastic family and friends!
    • We like to take walks, play tennis, watch interesting shows, rock out to good music, and try new things together.
    • We like to share stories, experiences, and encouragement with each other.
  • One of my favorite quotes comes from Professor Albus Dumbledore in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows:
    • "Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?"
    • This quote reminds me that imagination and wonder should be celebrated! Follow your crazy dreams, and be a DREAMER for life! #Rêveur
  • Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me. I look forward to learning more about you, too!
