Here are some fun and somewhat weird facts about me:
*I spent an evening lost in Rome, Italy, while on a trip to Europe with 4 other teachers and 5 students. Our tour guide left us at the Roman Pantheon, and we had to wander around, searching for a map and/or a phone. It took 4 or 5 hours for our tour group to find us. It was NOT cool.
*In 2009, I got stuck in the doors of a Manhattan subway while in New York City. And in case you didn't know, subway doors don't open when they close on you like elevator doors do. So, there I was, hanging halfway out the subway doors. The struggle to free myself must have appeared very painful, if the horrified looks on my friends' faces were any indication.
*Every day, I wake up with a song in my head. Sometimes this is a song I heard on the radio the day before. Sometimes it's just one of my favorite songs. I usually have this song in my head until I get started with the school day!
*My biggest fear is small spaces. I don't really like crowds; when I'm in my car; I always have to have air flowing through the vents; when I stand in the hallways during class changes, I try to stand off to the side. When I was in college at WKU, I got stuck in the elevator at Pearce-Ford Tower (the REALLY tall dorm) for 45 minutes with 10 other people. It was NOT cool.
*I LOVE to wear tourist clothing, even though my brother says it's embarrassing. If I visit a new place, I will buy any kind of tourist gear I can--keychains, t-shirts, knicknacks, funny hats, coffee mugs, umbrellas, etc. Some of my most FAVORITE items are weird tourist things, such as my Princeton University t-shirt (which is so soft and fuzzy) and a keychain I bought in New York.
*I love and collect lighthouses (not real ones obviously--but miniature ones). I have been collecting lighthouses for about 20 years. In fact, I have one bedroom in my house that is decorated with all the lighthouses I have collected. At last count, I had about 60 lighthouses of various sizes and colors. Some of them even light up!
*I HATE the color green. My favorite color is blue. I also like red, pink, and purple. But I DO NOT like green. I do NOT own any green clothing, so when St. Patrick's Day comes along, I am usually the only person who is not wearing any green.
*I LOVE superhero movies/stories/comics. My favorite superheroes are Iron Man and the X-Men. If I could have a superpower, I would want to be able to move objects with my mind.
*One of my favorite hobbies is gardening! I have 8 flower beds in which I grow daylilies, irises, hostas, columbines, toad lilies, coral bells, gladiolus, and rosebushes.
*I love to read. Right now I am in the middle of reading 10 different books. Somehow, I don't get confused and can remember where I left off.
