With the present state of the economy, I know that many folks in our area and across the country are struggling with finances right now. I want to take this opportunity to make you aware of some of the services that are offered in our area should your family be one of those affected by the economy.
One of the easiest ways to locate assistance in our area is found on the web at assistance.ky.gov. This easy to navigate website features links to nearly every agency that offers support in the state of Kentucky. I would encourage everyone to check this site out if you have any assistance needs.
Kentucky also has a new program call 2-1-1. Much like 9-1-1 for emergencies, residents can call this number with any sort of need & the operator can direct them to potential services and resources to assist the family. I have heard some good reviews on the service and would recommend it to families looking for community resources.
The Kentucky Children’s Health Insurance program (KCHIP) provides free or low cost health insurance for children to qualifying families. Recently, the KCHIP guidelines and procedures have been changed for easier accessibility. Previously, a face-to-face interview was required to determine eligibility. However, the new guidelines allow for an application to simply be mailed or faxed in. If you have interest in this program, I have brochures, as well as applications located in the Family Resource Center at school.
Finally, I want to make myself available to you if you need any help in locating brochures, forms, or services. You can reach me by phone at 563-9857, by e-mail (firstname.lastname@example.org), or by stopping by the school. Any questions or assistance referrals are kept confidential.
