Important Information

The preschool day begins at 8:30 and ends at 3:30. The preschool program has two sessions. One session runs Mondays and Wednesdays. One session runs  Tuesdays and Thursdays. Children should be escorted to the preschool classroom by a parent every day.  Car riders will be brought out by staff in the afternoons to the car rider line.

Preschool does not meet on Fridays!

Children in preschool have a folder with their name.  These folders go home with the children each day.  This is our primary form of communication with you and we feel that it is important that you check your child’s folder each day.  The folder is divided inside by what needs to be taken out of the folders to stay at home and what needs to be signed or filled out and sent back to school.  If you have any notes, money or anything else that needs to come to school for the teacher, office, or lunch room please send them in this folder.  It is much easier for Ms. Bluhm and me to check these folders each day than to go through each child’s backpack.  Also, it is very important that these folders continue to come back to school so that we can make sure and safely send home any items or documents for you.

Please make sure that your child does not bring toys, jewelry or any other extras in their backpacks.  They are very distracted by having these things at school.  If children bring toys or jewelry to school they will be taken away from children and held until the end of the school day. Children are very centered on having these things near them and cannot concentrate on learning. Please help your child leave home without any extras.

If you need to contact the school the phone number at Jody Richards is 904-1901.

If you need to contact me (Mrs. Ramey) there are several ways you can do that.  You can call the school and have them forward the call to the preschool room.  I will use remind text during the school year for announcements, texting back and forth etc.

You can also reach me by email:

State law requires all preschool parents or their adult guardian to bring the child to the designated pick-up and drop-off point. Please hold their hand to make sure they do not run in front of the school bus. There must be an adult available to meet the bus when they are delivered home. Please do not allow them to run out to the bus. Your child’s safety is our number one priority and we need your help with this! Thanks for helping us keep your child safe!

Frequently Asked Questions:

Do I just come to the classroom?

All visitors, including parents, must sign in at the office and put on a visitor's badge each time before leaving the office area.  If you come to our classroom without a badge, you will be asked to go back to the office to sign in.  This is for the safety of your children!

What are these GREEN/YELLOW vests?

The Warren County Schools have provided each preschool and kindergarten child with safety vest to be worn all school year as children come and go from school.  Please make certain that your child wears his or her vest each day.  There will be a tag on your child's vest that lets the bus monitor know where and to whom to release your child.

How much is lunch?  Breakfast?

For those who do not qualify for free or reduced lunch pricing lunch is $2.25. The cost of breakfast is $1.25.  It is very helpful if you pay for lunch at least one week at a time.  If your child brings their lunch and wants to buy milk, the cost is $.50.

What supplies does my child need?

There are no necessary supplies for preschool.  It is helpful if they have a backpack LARGE enough for a daily folder.  It is also helpful if they have a full change of clothes, including underwear and socks, in their backpack. If your child wears diapers or pull-ups, please send an ample supply of those and wipes to keep in the classroom.

Will my child be safe?

Your child's safety if our number one priority!  Your child will be in the company of the preschool teacher and/or aides during their entire time at school.  When we visit the library, gym, etc., we stay with the children.  We have our own playground, separate from the big playground and it is completely fenced in.  A bus monitor rides each bus the preschoolers are on and will not allow a child to get off the bus unless an authorized adult is there to meet them and hold their hand as they get off the bus.  A staff member may ask an unfamiliar adult for identification before releasing a child to them.  If there are custody issues we should be aware of, please bring a copy of any court order.  We eat our meals in the classroom.  We do not have a naptime, but are responsive to your child's needs.  If your child appears sleepy, we encourage them to rest.  We practice fire and tornado drills regularly.

What should my child wear?

We hope that children are comfortable.  We will be painting and involved in other activities that may be messy.  Tennis shoes are also helpful (but understand that some children insist on wearing their cowboy boots). Flip flops are not allowed for any student.   Our room does get cool; you may want to send a sweater or jacket with your child.  We will go outside every day, weather permitting.

What are home visits?

This is an opportunity for me to find out more about your child and your dreams for your child.  (It is not an inspection at all!)  Children usually love for their teacher to come to their home and this helps build our teacher/student relationship.
