Transitional Kindergarten

Our Transitional Kindergarten (TK) program is designed to provide an intentional bridge between preschool and kindergarten for students who are eligible for kindergarten by age but may benefit from additional time to grow and develop. TK offers a supportive, developmentally appropriate environment where children can build the confidence, independence, and foundational skills needed for long-term success in school.

This program is ideal for 5-year-old students who may not yet be ready for the academic pace and structure of a traditional kindergarten classroom. Through a thoughtfully designed, play-based approach, TK gives students the opportunity to strengthen social-emotional skills, develop self-regulation, and engage in meaningful learning experiences that prepare them for kindergarten the following year.

Instruction in Transitional Kindergarten blends exploration, hands-on learning, and intentional teaching of early literacy and math concepts. Teachers differentiate learning experiences to meet the needs of each child, focusing on kindergarten readiness skills such as communication, problem-solving, collaboration, and independence. Students are introduced to foundational academic concepts in ways that are engaging, interactive, and aligned to how young children learn best.

Transitional Kindergarten is considered the first year of a two-year kindergarten experience. Students will transition to traditional kindergarten the following year, better prepared to meet expectations with confidence and success.

At its core, our TK program provides the gift of time—time to grow, mature, and develop the skills necessary to thrive—ensuring each child enters kindergarten ready to learn and succeed.
