SWHS Student Earns Bid To National Speaking Competition

FFA

Over the summer, Braedon Price from South Warren High School competed in the State FFA Competition for Extemporaneous Public Speaking. Braedon earned a spot at the state competition by placing first against all 12 schools in the Barren River FFA Region this past Spring. At the KY State FFA Convention in June, Braedon competed against several FFA members from across the state. After proceeding on to the final round, Braedon was triumphant in winning 1st place in the state of Kentucky for the FFA Extemporaneous Public Speaking Contest.

The FFA Extemporaneous Public Speaking Event requires students to draw a topic about a current issue in agriculture, then the student will have a total of 30 minutes to write a speech over the topic that was drawn. Immediately following the 30 minute writing period, the student must then present the speech to a panel of judges and a small audience. Possible topics that could be drawn for this speech include, health and nutrition, genetically modified organisms, water conservation, foreign trade, robots and drones, minorities in agriculture, etc.

We are especially proud of Braedon for all of his accomplishments. Braedon is the son of Amie and Braxton Price of Bowling Green. He currently serves South Warren as the SWHS FFA President. He also serves all 12 schools of the Barren River Region as the Regional FFA President. Please join us in congratulating Braedon on these awesome accomplishments, and wish him luck as he goes on to represent the entire Kentucky FFA Association at the National FFA Convention in October.
