Preschool
Transportation services are available to eligible preschool students within their home school district. The following are the State Regulations for transporting preschool children (702 KAE 5:150):
1. Each school bus transporting three and four year old children are required to be staffed by a minimum of 1 driver assistant who is trained to assist three and four year old children.
2. It shall be the responsibility of the parent, guardian, or authorized person to provide safe supervision to and from the bus stop and delivery to the driver assistant per hand-to-hand delivery.
3. A three- or four-year-old child shall not be left unattended at the time of delivery.
If a parent, guardian or authorized person is not present upon delivery, the child shall be taken to a prearranged location (returned to school).
4. The driver assistant will keep all preschool students seated at all times and assist each child on and off the bus.
A guardian must bring the child to the bus stop and wait with the child until the child boards the bus and the bus leaves the bus stop. A designated guardian must also be at the bus stop to take the child off the bus. The parent or guardian is responsible for the child’s safety to and from the bus stop. The parent/guardian will accompany the child to and from the bus stop and will be in control of the child at all times. Hand-to-hand pick-up and drop-off is required. If there is no designated guardian, the child will be returned to school and the parent will be called to pick up the child. (Designated guardians are those individuals listed on the child’s emergency card that is signed by the parent or legal guardian.) All preschool students riding a Warren County Bus are required to wear a yellow safety vest, provided at no cost by the Preschool Program. A child may not be issued a vest until all enrollment requirements are complete. A preschooler must be wearing the yellow vest before being allowed to ride the bus. Warren County has a policy of “No Vest, No Ride” for preschool students.
