Over the summer, Braedon Price from South Warren High School competed in the State FFA Competition for Extemporaneous Public Speaking. Braedon earned a spot at the state competition by placing first against all 12 schools in the Barren River FFA Region. At the KY State FFA Convention in June, Braedon competed against several FFA members from across the state. After proceeding on to the final round, Braedon was triumphant in winning 1st place in the state of Kentucky for the FFA Extemporaneous Public Speaking Contest. On October 30th, Braedon traveled to Indianapolis, Indiana for the National FFA Convention to represent Kentucky. Braedon finished 10th in the Nation for Extemporaneous Public Speaking. There are 16,000 FFA members in Kentucky and 650,000 Nationwide so 10th in the Nation is an outstanding accomplishment. Braedon currently serves as the South Warren High School FFA President. He also serves all 12 schools of the Barren River Region as the Regional FFA President.
The FFA Extemporaneous Public Speaking Event requires students to draw a topic about a current issue in agriculture, then the student will have a total of 30 minutes to write a speech over the topic that was drawn. Immediately following the 30 minute writing period, the student must then present the speech to a panel of judges and a small audience. Possible topics that could be drawn for this speech include, health and nutrition, genetically modified organisms, water conservation, foreign trade, row cropping, robots and drones, endangered species act, minorities in agriculture, etc.
In additional to these success, Braedon received the Youth Excellence Award from the NAACP. Braedon is the son of Amie and Braxton Price of Bowling Green. Please join us in congratulating Braedon on these awesome accomplishments.
