According to research, high-quality facilities play a significant role in a student’s overall academic experience and in the last five years, WCPS has resulted in an aggressive approach toward updating and modernizing existing facilities. In addition to enhancing the security infrastructure of each facility, these renovations further demonstrate the Board of Education’s desire to provide equitable opportunities for all students. With that approach, WCPS broke ground this month on a new multi-purpose facility at Greenwood High School. This space is designed to be utilized by students and school athletes including those participate in activities such as JROTC, Volleyball, Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, and Cheerleading to name only a few.
The new multi-purpose facility is approximately a $5.4 million investment that will include an open vestibule for students and guests, additional restroom facilities, a “Hall of Champions” area for trophy cases, new concessions area, ticket booth area and new landscaping around the project. Construction will begin the first week of November 2019 with a projected completion date of August 2020.
