WCBOE Hosts Groundbreaking Ceremony For New CTES

CTES Ground Breaking

Warren County Public Schools hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Cumberland Trace Elementary School on June 18, 2019. Within the last year, the District acquired 23 acres, approximately 1.5 miles north of the current facility on Cumberland Trace Road, where the new building will be constructed.  The design stage of the project was completed under the leadership of Jennifer Cash from the design firm Sherman,Carter & Barnhart, which has overseen several building projects for the district while Alliance Corporation will serve as the construction manager for this project.

“Warren County Public Schools takes tremendous pride in offering our students, staff, and community state of the art facilities.  This is a significant challenge for a district our size and one that continues to see a significant rise in enrollment each year. The new facility will uphold our long-standing tradition of providing students and staff with a state-of-the-art learning environment,” stated Superintendent Rob Clayton.  We thoroughly recognize the positive impact of quality facilities on student safety, achievement, and opportunities. In addition to the construction of a new Cumberland Trace Elementary, the existing facility will allow us additional space to meet the diverse needs associated with operating the state’s fourth largest school district.”

The new school will continue the district’s Energy Conservation tradition in that it will be a net zero ready building and include 50kw of solar energy.  Warren County Public Schools currently has two net zero and three net zero ready schools in operation. With safety as the top priority, storm-safe materials will be used throughout the facility along with several design elements to enhance safety.  Construction is expected to begin this fall with the new building opening for students in the Fall of 2021.
