Welcome to music at Jennings Creek! My name is Natasha Kohlmann and I am new to the Wolf Pack. I am originally from the Metcalfe/Adair county area and am a graduate of Campbellsville University where I earned a B.A. in Music Education with a vocal emphasis and instrumental endorsement. The last 8 years of my teaching career were spent in St. Johns County, Florida in elementary music. In 2018, I had the privilege of being voted "Teacher of the Year" for Otis A. Mason Elementary School and was one of 5 finalists for our district from wonderful teachers out of 50 schools in our county. I am married to a sweet man named John and mom to twins, Jack and Annabelle, who will be 21 this year!
In music class, we will develop our musicianship by singing with proper technique, learning to listen to ourselves and others, moving to the beat, playing instruments in an ensemble setting, speaking in rhythm, chanting in rhyme, reading iconic notation, improvising and creating rhythms and melodies, and creating in class performances.
In an Orff-Schulwerk music classroom, we use our voices, bodies, drums, xylophones, and recorders to make musical experiences that are organic and kid friendly. It's going to be a great year at Jennings Creek!
