We are excited to welcome students back to Jennings Creek Elementary School on Wednesday, January 4th. When we return on January 4th, we will officially begin our new Healthy Kids Clinic. We will now have a full-time registered nurse, and our feeder system (Warren Central) will have a registered nurse practitioner available to see your children at school (if permission is granted). We sent home registration forms for you to sign and complete the week after Thanksgiving break. If you need another form, please reach out to the front office. We are excited to offer this program to our students, families, and staff. Please see the image below for more information.
As a reminder, there will be no school on Monday, January 2nd, or Tuesday, January 3rd. January 3rd is the district's third PLC day. PLC days serve as valuable opportunities for school personnel to collaborate across the district on ways to serve our students best. Students will resume normal classroom activities when we return to school on Wednesday, January 4th. Grades for quarter two are due on January 5th, and report cards will be sent home the following week.
Our second round of parent-teacher conferences will be held on January 24th and 25th. Please be on the lookout for a sign-up sheet from your child's teacher. These parent-teacher conferences will serve as a reading/math review. Teachers will provide you information on the grade level your child is currently in for both reading/math, what we are doing to accelerate their learning (if behind), and any growth they have shown this year based on Growth Measure and Fastbridge assessments.
Lastly, given that we are in the winter season and recently saw some of the coldest temperatures in Kentucky's history, we must prepare for potential snow days. While Mr. Clayton reserves the right to give traditional snow days, the most likely scenario is that we use Non-Traditional Instructional (NTI) days. These days count as school days; therefore, they do not have to be added to the end of the school year. Teachers have completed a spreadsheet for each student that provides technology and wifi needs. If there is snow in the forecast, teachers will send home a device and wifi hotspot to the students who do not have a device or wifi at home. Students are expected to attend live Google Meetings throughout the day. Attendance will be taken twice throughout the day, once during the first live session (8:45 AM - 9:00 AM) and again after lunch at 12:00 PM. Students can access Google Meeting links through their teacher's Google Classroom. Please see the NTI day schedule below for your child's specific grade-level meeting times.
As always, please let me know if you have any questions (firstname.lastname@example.org)
