Welcome to the Home of the Dragons. I am Reading Intervention Teachers and have worked here at WCHS for the past 3 years. My role here at WCHS is to assist students in the Sophomore and Junior classes to help prepare them to be successful in reading and answering questions high school level reading or above. I work closely with the Sophomore and Junior Language Arts teachers as well as our school curriculum coordinator and school interventionist. I am available to all students and parent to help in the area of better and higher reading skills. I will strive above all the assist your student and our school to be the best student possible in the area of academics and study skills.
Just to take a few minutes to tell you about myself: I am originally from Horse Cave just 40 miles up I-65. I graduated from Hart County High School in 1976. Continued my education by traveling down I-65 to Bowling Green attending Western Kentucky University, graduating from there with my BS degree in Elementary Education, Master in Education and Rank I in Education with a Special Education certificate, which I have used for the passed 38 years. While working on my BS I met my husband, Mark, of 42 years, we initially taught in Union County (Morganfield, KY) for 4 years, then moved back to the Hart County area where my husband taught Agriculture for eleven years and I taught Special Education and Language Arts both at the elementary and high school level for twelve years. was Director of Student Services at Drakes Creek Middle School for 11 years. I retired in 2013 and since worked with various schools at various positions. In 1997 my husband traveled for a year from Horse Cave to Greenwood working as Assistant Principal. A year later the family moved to Bowling Green where I have taught at Cumberland Trace Elementary as both a Special Education Teacher and a 3th/4th grade teacher, moving on to Briarwood Elementary and taught 6th grade Geography/Reading and Math. Eight years ago I moved to Drakes Creek as Director of Student Services. I am also a mother of 3 adult children all graduates of Greenwood High School two of which also attended DCMS. The oldest daughter, Alecea, is a graduate of WKU and works at DeSales High School in Louisville, Ky with a 2 daughters, Kennedy and Davis, the middle child a daughter, Emily, is a graduate of East Tennessee University and works from home with Qualfon as an HR Executive, married with our first grandson Beckham and a husband Brian which works at MTSU and our youngest child, Jacob, is a graduate of EKU and works a recruiter/strength and speed coach with the new D1 Sports Training in Bowling Green and married to Emily which is a real estate agent with the Win Crew.
My ultimate goal is to provide every student with the tools needed which will enable them to be both academically and socially equipped, with the outcome of becoming successful and productive in their adult life.
