Hi! My name is Lara Lim! I am so excited to begin my 20th year teaching at Richardsville Elementary. This will be my 3rd year at Richardsville as the Elementary Curriculum Coordinator. I love this role because I get to coach teachers as well as work with students on a daily basis. I believe in a very hands-on approach to learning. If the students can touch something with their hands or build something, I think the content becomes more valuable and real to them. Working as a group is also very important in the classroom. Collaborative group work fosters independence, leadership, and teamwork within students.
I began my career at Rich Pond when I graduated from college in 2003. I taught at Rich Pond for 15 years. 10 of those years was spent in 4th/5th grade, and 5 of those years was spent in 2nd grade. I received my Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education in 2003 and my Masters Degree in Educational Administration in 2008, both from Western Kentucky University. I completed my Rank 1 with an endorsement in Gifted Education in 2018.
I am married to my best friend, Heng. We met on a blind date that his dad arranged, and we have been married eighteen years. We have three wonderful children, Emory is 16 and is a 11th grader at South Warren High School, Grady is 12 and is a 7th grader at South Warren Middle School , and Kipley is 7 and is a 2nd grader at Richardsville. We also have one miniature schnauzer, one labradoodle, a sweet cat, and a horse. My family is my world and I spend all of my free time with them. We love to travel and see new places and do so as frequently as we can. Our week-ends are spent outdoors and on the lake. I also love reading, running, spending time with friends, hiking, camping and decorating our house.
I am so excited about this school year. I am so blessed and thankful that I get to work with your children every day. I know that we are going to have an awesome year and learn so much from one another!
