Hello South Warren Students and Parents!
*** COVID-19 Pandemic Non-Traditional Instruction UPDATE FOR PARENTS ***
As we all deal with the upheaval that COVID-19 has brought to our daily lives, I wanted to assure you all that your child will still be receiving instruction AND feedback regularly in my classes at South Warren High School. This is less than ideal for any of us, but we're trying to make the most of it. Some reminders and contact info if any of you should have questions or concerns about your child's school work during this constantly-changing time:
1. I am available by email (firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com) at any time, 24/7. It may be the next morning before I can return your message or call, but don't hesitate to contact me whenever you or your child has a question. If it's 11 PM and the notion strikes, send that email, and I'll get back to you as soon as I possibly can.
2. Please check your child's Google Classroom page regularly as that is my primary means of communication with them. I am not giving my students busy work but rather modified versions of what we would be doing in-class were in at South. Sometimes this requires students to watch a video or use internet links I've provided. Please let me know if your child is having difficulty accessing any of these videos or links so I can rectify the problem (if possible).
3.Each day, I will make myself available for face-to-face virtual communication via Google Meet. I had my first "Meet" this afternoon, and several students showed up for a quick, "Hey, how're things going?" talk. I will try to vary the times of my availability so everyone can hop on and ask questions if they need to. THIS IS NOT MANDATORY so don't worry if you're child cannot participate in these Google Meets. Remember--if your child needs specific one-on-one help, we can arrange a time at your convenience for a virtual conference. Just email me at anytime.
Thank you for your patience and support as we continue through these uncharted waters of the pandemic and NTI. I look forward to hearing from as many of you as possible in the coming weeks!
My name is Johnny Polson, and the 2019-2020 school year marks my 27th go 'round in the classroom. This fall, I'll be teaching two sections of Law & Justice and one AP Psychology course. In the spring semester, my classes will include one section of Law & Justice and two sections of Sociology with Criminology.
Google Classroom is my primary method of communicating the daily goings-on in my classes. It's especially useful as a reminder for students to check on assignment due dates and upcoming assessments. Students who are absent should also use GC to catch up on missed work.
So STUDENTS--you will be given the current GC code for your class(es) during the first few days of school so you can access assignments and announcements whenever you're connected to the web. And PARENTS--please ask to see your child's syllabus or just email me for the particular GC code if you would like to access any of these courses yourself.
I'm looking forward to another great year at South. Please feel free to contact me anytime at the above email address (or call the guidance department at 270-467-7500 for a conference) should you have any questions or concerns throughout the semester!
