The 2019-2020 school year marks my 5th year teaching at South Warren, and 7th overall. I began my teaching career at Hopkins County Central High School for two years. I earned my Bachelor's degree in Business and Marketing Education at WKU and my Master's degree in Teacher Leadership at the University of the Cumberlands. Besides teaching, I love spending time with my wife and our family, attending church, and basketball. I'm looking forward to working with your child and please feel free to contact me with any questions/concerns.
Spring 2020 Schedule:
1st Block - Digital Literacy
2nd Block - Principles of Marketing
SWORD - ILP & Digital Drivers License
3rd Block - Advanced Marketing
4th Block - Planning
All of my classes are using Schoology for assignments. All students indicated, even if it was only by phone access, they would be able to get on Schoology and see the daily assignment(s). Schoology has an amazing app that can be downloaded on any smartphone. I just recently downloaded the app myself and I wish I had done this a long time ago. Parents can also have access (feel free to contact me about this). Assignments are posted on the daily calendar with my own comments to make it easier for the students. I even post plans a week ahead so those that enjoy working ahead can work and not have to stress about my class. I understand students have other classes and responsibilities at home. The only thing I ask is to give great effort, stay caught up, and communicate about any questions/concerns.
I update grades daily. If any student has failed an assignment, I leave grading comments in Infinite Campus for those reasons why. PLEASE contact me if I make a mistake so I can fix it. If a student does not complete his/her assignments by the end of the week, I will put in 0’s. This usually motivates the student to get those assignments done. On Monday’s, I will send emails and/or make phone calls to students and parents about missing assignments. When something is made up and communication is made from that student, I will change the grade with no late penalty.
Communication, Help, and Contact:
Warren County Schools employees are to be on the clock during regular school hours (7:30am - 2:30pm). I do not mind, if I am available, helping students outside that window. Responses might take longer, but I do not shut down after 2:30pm (it is about the kids more than anything). I have told students to send a Schoology message and/or email me (notifications come straight to my phone). Parents, I want you to feel free to contact me as well if you have any questions and/or concerns.
The most important thing is that ALL of us work together and have a positive attitude. Using the words of our governor, Andy Beshear, “we will get through this together.”
Schoology: Parents, please review with your child consistently by visiting our Schoology class for current information about the course and resouces needed. ALL students are setup with accounts during the first week of the semester. Parent access is also available. Please email me if you are interested in knowing more.
