The following screenings are available at The Medical Center Health & Wellness Center located at 1857 Tucker Way off Cave Mill Road in Chandler Park.

FREE BLOOD PRESSURE SCREENING

Offered daily - Blood pressure screenings are offered every day at no cost.

 

FREE BODY FAT SCREENING

Offered daily - Find out your percentage of body fat vs. lean muscle mass, which is a better measurement

of weight status than pounds.

 

FREE STROkE SCREENING

Offered daily - Following completion of a brief stroke risk scorecard and blood pressure screening, a health

educator will discuss areas of concern with you.

 

FREE HEARING SCREENING

Thursdays, February 11 or March 3

9 a.m. to noon. Preregistration required.

Hearing loss can affect all aspects of life. Staff from Beltone Hearing Center will provide hearing screening services and answer

questions about hearing loss and amplifi cation.

 

FREE HIV TESTING

Fridays, February 12 or March 11

2 to 4 p.m. Preregistration preferred.

A certifi ed HIV tester from Barren River District Health Department will provide confi dential HIV testing using the Clearview

finger stick. You will know your HIV status within 15 minutes.

FREE CHOLESTEROL AND GLUCOSE SCREENING

Thursday, February 25

8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Preregistration required.

Staff from WKU Institute for Rural Health will perform total cholesterol and blood sugar screenings (four hours fasting recommended).

 

FREE OSTEOPOROSIS AND BONE DENSITY SCREENING

Thursday, March 10

9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Preregistration required.

Osteoporosis may happen naturally as you age. It means your bones are fragile and at greater risk for breaking. Health professionals with WKU Institute for Rural Health will offer a quick, painless screening that uses ultrasound to measure the bone mineral density in your heel.

 

FREE BALANCE SCREENING

Thursday, March 24

9 to 11:30 a.m. Preregistration required.

Do you have a fear or concern about falling? Being aware of your fall risk is an important step in preventing a fall. Gabe Smith, P.T., D.P.T. from Bluegrass Outpatient Center will provide fall risk assessments, including balance tests, to help individuals target risk factors.
