The Plano Elementary Family Resource Center (FRC) operates under Action Components that are written into a grant every 2 years. Please see below a list of these components and how the Plano FRC addresses them
Educational Support- Although this component is an optional component, the contents often prove to be the largest barrier to education. Included in this component is basic needs, which allows the FRC to provide resources and referrals to families experiencing financial difficulties (i.e. school supply assistance, clothing assistance, etc.). Also included in this component is various activities for students that allow them additional support to help be academically successful, some of these activities are PRIDE Pals, 4H Dollars and Sense program.
Family Literacy (Parent and Child Education)- This component addresses the need of the importance of parent and child together time. Through this program the Plano FRC is able to provide many activities that encourage family involvement. With a partnership with Title 1 a Family Reading Night and a Family Math Night are presented each year. Other activities sponsored through the FRC are Muffins With Mom, Donuts with Dad, and various trainings and activities throughout the year to promote family involvement.
Families in Training- This component addresses the need to help new and expectant parents information and education to help their children progress and learn. Every year the Warren County FRYSC hosts a Community-Wide Baby Shower for new and expectant to receive information about the different agencies and resources available to them in the community.
Health- This component allows the Plano FRC to have on hand information about different agencies in the community that provide free or low cost health services. Dental, vision, and hearing screenings are also provided to students free of charge throughout the year.
