MATHCOUNTS is a national enrichment, club and competition program that promotes middle school mathematics achievement through grassroots involvement in every U.S. state and territory. Consisting of fun and creative problems that promote critical-thinking and problem-solving skills, the MATHCOUNTS competitions have written and oral rounds, as well as individual and team components.

South Warren Middle School's MATHCOUNTS Club will meet once a week, during October, November, December, January and February for practice. At the end of January, all participants will take a test to determine the competitors. We will take a team of 4 members, along with 6 more individual competitors to the competition around February (date has not been announced). If you qualify for the team or as an individual competitor, you are encouraged to attend the session each week, to get the most practice in before competition. As sometimes occurs, scheduling conflicts are unavoidable. Please notify Ms. Johnson, in advance, if you are unable to attend a practice.

If a student does not qualify for the competition as a team member or individual participant, they may continue their involvement with the MathCounts Club for enrichment and additional Math practice.

Practices will be held on Tuesday afternoons from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. Students will need to be picked up by their parents or guardians no later than 4:10 p.m. All meeting materials and answer keys are regularly posted to our Mathcounts Google Classroom.  Students can invite parents to join!  In addition, We will use Remind to text out important information and reminders.  If you would like to receive these messages, please text 81010 and send the message '@1718counts' to sign up.

PRACTICE SCHEDULE – All practices will be held in Room 26. Please come prepared with paper, pencil, and a calculator.  Extra practices may be added on an as-needed basis as the competition nears.
