Veterans' Day Program Stirs Patriotic Feelings
On Veterans' Day, November 11, students and faculty of Moss Middle School, enjoy a program that reminded them of the sacrifice that many have made on their behalf.  The Warren Central High School ROTC Color Guard started the program with the presentation of colors followed by Kobee leading the school in The Pledge of Allegiance.  Leticia, Kaitlyn, and Katherine sang the national anthem.  The assistant principal, David Stobaugh, spoke about the significance and history of Veterans' Day.  The guest speaker was Robert Day, a Marine, and brother of guidance counselor Amanda Warder.  The band and choir performed "America the Beautiful" followed by the choir singinging "America" accompanied by Kaylee W. on the piano.  A member of the student body, whose family is composed of many military members, spoke next on the importance of the military.  The wind ensemble performed "God Bless America," and Ma read her poem, "A Poem to a Soldier."  Ashleigh Keefer, wife of a soldier currently serving, spoke about the Christmas for Soldiers program and Lynn Vincent, Family Resource Director, presented her with gifts and cards for the soldiers.  After the principal, David Nole, recognized the veterans in attendance, the program was closed by the playing of Taps by band diretor Becky Graham.

Fruit-of-the-Loom Donates Backpacks
Moss Middle School students are pretty lucky.  Not only are they going to a great school, Fruit-of-the-Loom is making sure that they are completely prepared by outfitting them with backpacks filled with school supplies.  For their community service project this year, Fruit-of-the-Loom employees decided that they wanted to do something to help middle school students start their year off on the right foot by having the supplies needed for school.  They actually drew the name of Moss Middle School out of a hat, but when the employees arrived at the school, they discovered that they had much in common with Moss staff including being neighbors.  Lynn Vincent, Family Youth Resource Service Center coordinator, was grateful for the donation of fifty-six backpacks, saying, "This will help so many of our students."  Many thanks to Fruit-of-the-Loom for helping make Moss the best!
