Teacher-Peer Visits

  • Each teacher will make two visits. 1) one visit within your cluster and 2) one visit outside of your cluster.  You need to sign up for the visit within your cluster on the google doc shared with you.   You can get together as a department and decide who will visit who or you can do it first come first serve.  You all will need to work that out.  Everyone needs to be signed up for the visit within your cluster by Monday, February 20.
  • A visit should last at least 20 minutes but you are encouraged to stay longer so you can observe how the teacher you are visiting manages both beginning and ending class.
  • Agree upon a date and class with the teacher you will be visiting ahead of time.
  • Complete the online visitor form or a hard copy during or after your visit.  Give one copy to the teacher you visited. Give one copy to Mrs. Llontop. This will happen automatically if you use the online form.  If you chose to use a hard copy of the form you can print it from the L drive/teacher common/teacher peer visit/2016-2017.
  • If you know that you are going to be teaching a really great lesson and would like to share it with others, please publicize it by word of mouth, personal invitation, email, etc. to let the faculty know ahead of time so those interested can make plans to visit that day for their out of cluster visit.
  • As a courtesy to the teacher you are observing, be in the classroom before class begins.  Coming in after the class starts and trying to get settled can be a distraction and some students may have a hard time refocusing.
  • Remember, this is a visit not an evaluation.  Relax, enjoy and learn something from a peer.  It may be content, classroom management techniques or instructional methods that you can borrow and make your own.  This is a great opportunity to learn from our resident experts!  Take full advantage.
  • The two visits must be completed before May 1.
  • Because I am "sharing" the google doc for you to sign up you should be able access them anytime on your google drive.
