A veteran Warren County Public Schools art teacher and one of her students were recognized at the November 20 meeting of the Warren County Board of Education for earning awards recently.
Shelly Clark, who teaches art at Richardsville and Briarwood elementary schools, has been named the Kentucky Elementary School Art Teacher of the Year by the Kentucky Art Education Association.
Clark is a veteran teacher who has taught at the elementary, middle and high school levels during her career.
One of Clark's Briarwood students, Rozi Yar, was recognized for winning first in the state in the K-3 division for two-dimensional art.
The mission of the Kentucky Art Education Association (KyAEA) is to advance art education through professional development, service, advancement of knowledge, and leadership. To that end, the association promotes quality instruction in visual arts education that is delivered by qualified personnel; holds public discussions; sponsors workshops and institutes, publishes articles, reports, and surveys; provides a network for communication; supports student exhibitions; and works with other related agencies in support of visual arts education.
