Since his arrival in 2013, Clayton has been instrumental in implementing numerous programs, which have positively impacted Warren County Public Schools. Warren East High School and Warren Central High School have undergone multi-million dollar renovations in their Media Centers and their athletic facilities are currently under renovation. Alvaton Elementary and Plano Elementary have earned The Leader in Me Lighthouse status under Superintendent Clayton’s direction, bring the total number of Lighthouse Schools to 4.
Most notable are the academic strides WCPS has made since 2013. District-wide, K-PREP scores have increased to the 89th percentile, missing the Distinguished Classification by one-tenth of a point. Under the leadership of Superintendent Clayton, WCPS now boasts 10 Distinguished Schools, Four Schools of Distinction, two of Kentucky’s highest ranked high schools, and the state’s 7th highest performing elementary school, Cumberland Trace.
Rob Clayton joined the WCPS family in July 2013 as Superintendent. Mr. Clayton is a 1993 graduate of Oakland City College and has more than twenty years of experience in the education field. He most recently served as principal for one of Kentucky’s highest performing and most distinguished schools, South Oldham Middle School. He led the school as Associate Principal from 2000-2007 before becoming Principal from 2007-2013. Prior to his leadership roles, Superintendent Clayton worked in the classroom as a Science teacher at Pleasure Ridge Park in Louisville, Kentucky where he was also a coach.
Clayton is an active member in many professional societies and community organizations. He serves on the Board of Directors for United Way of Southern Kentucky and belongs to the Kentucky Association of School Superintendents (KASS), Kentucky Association of School Administrators (KASA), and the National Association of School Superintendents (NASS).
Outside of work, Superintendent Clayton enjoys spending time with his family. His wife Robin is a Registered Nurse, and together they have three children Morgen, Bryce, and Sydney.
