2017-2018 Initiatives

ATTENDANCE:  Is top priority for the Warren County Tech Center!!!

  • Perfect attendance:Students with perfect attendance will get their names entered into a drawing each nine weeks.Four names will be drawn and those students will be presented with $25.00 gift cards. We will do this each nine weeks. We are working on a grand prize drawing for students who maintain perfect attendance for the year.

  • Automotive students with perfect attendance the first nine weeks will be entered into a drawing.Four students will be selected to serve as the pit crew for Cannon Automotive Manufacturing race team at the Corvette Museum Motorsports Park races.(The race car will be brought to our Automotive program for regular maintenance and repair and the pit crew will spend weekends at the track for race day).

  • Students with less than three absences at the end of the first nine weeks will be partnered with a manufacturing company based on their interest and ILP ($12.97 to $17.00 per hour with full benefit package).BG Metalforming has committed to 15 students, Cannon has committed to 6 students, and SCA has committed to 5 students. These students will be entered into a cohort and the manufacturers will spend the remainder of the school year meeting monthly with their cohort as manufacturing mentors.(Students with multiple behavior referrals, habitual absences, and poor attitudes will be removed from the cohort and the job offer will be recanted). If positions are not available upon graduation, the mentors have agreed to help them secure employment with sister companies.

  • Manufacturing Mentors:  We will partner with local business and industry to offer career focused students the opportunity to interview for positions.  Once selected, the cohort will meet monthly with their manufacturing partner, tour their facility as a cohort, and will start employment upon graduation.  Each cohort will be scheduled with their manufacturing mentors to address the student body monthly to explain their industry and opportunities.  It is our goal that these partnerships will lead to employment, sponsorships and tuition assistance while employed.

  • Corvette Museum Motorsports Park:  We are partnering with the Motorsports Park in a collaborative effort to build a race car that will represent Bowling Green and Warren County on the racetrack.  The Welding program will fabricate a racecar frame from blueprints and then collaborate with the Automotive program to build a race engine and drive unit, suspension, steering, electrical, and more.  We are looking for additional partners in the Math and Business department to collaborate on a business plan and budget for this project.   The Motorsports Steering Committee has requested the Warren County Tech Center Design Team make monthly presentations on progress, budget, marketing proposal, etc.

  • Motorsports Marketing:  We are in discussions on a restoration project for the Corvette Museum Motorsports Park to restore a classic muscle car to represent the Warren County Tech Center, BG Schools, Warren County Schools, and the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce on this project.  Again, the Welding and Automotive programs will collaborate to complete the project.  In addition, the team will recruit Math and Business partners for this project.

  •   SKYCTC and Dual Credit:  The Tech Center offers dual credit in almost all of our program areas.  We are working on partnerships to provide sponsorships for the dual credit fee this year.  Our goal is 100% participation in dual credit.  SKYCTC will make monthly visits to meet with students.  They will send representatives to complete admission forms with all students.  In addition, SKYCTC is reviewing the possibility of offering Presidential Scholarships to two deserving Tech Center students.  Destiny O’Rorke with KHEAA will visit for financial aid presentations and we will take all seniors to the SKYCTC to visit their chosen program and instructor.

  • Student of the quarter:  Each program will recognize one outstanding student for each of the nine week quarters.

  • “Be the Change” positive behavioral program:  This program recognizes students for strong work ethics, attendance, respect, and for being a good citizen in general.  Teachers will write tickets for students who are caught exhibiting these behaviors during the week.  Each Friday we will draw two winners in the morning and two winners for the afternoon.  These students will have the option to receive a Tech Center t-shirt or other gifts from the treasure chest.  (If you have marketing items that we could add to the treasure chest then it would be appreciated).

  • “7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens”:  We have partnered with BRADD to provide a monthly training session for the 7 Habits.  Students will be pulled out for a building-wide session on soft skills and leadership skills.  Each session will last for 90 minutes and will provide an introduction to the skill sets manufacturers are seeking in new employees.  The program will incorporate field trips to manufacturing partners in the fall and again in the spring, field trips to SKYCTC, interviews in the spring with potential employers, scholarships, job placement, and more.

  • Work Ethics Seal:  We are partnering with the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce to provide 7 sessions over the school year with representatives from business and industry to share experiences, demands, and needs of business and industry.  The representatives will teach soft skills required to be successful in business and industry.  Career Ready students who meet all criteria will be eligible for scholarships and to wear the work ethics honor cord for graduation.

  • Social Media Campaign:  Positive posters will continue to be distributed and our Career Readiness Scores for 2016-2017 with goals for 2017-2018 will be posted throughout the building.

  • Operation Preparation/Middle School Tours:  Just as last year, we are honored to participate in operation preparation.  We will send guest speakers when requested, open our doors to middle school tours, and represent our school and programs at career days.  (simply call)
