How can my child pay for their lunch?
Your child can either bring in money each day or bring in money to deposit into their student account. Only cash and checks are accepted. Credit cards are NOT accepted. If you would like to manage your child's account from home, you can contact the cafeteria to sign-up for MyPaymentsPlus.
What is MyPaymentsPlus?
MyPaymentsPlus (www.mypaymentsplus.com) is a state-of-the-art online service that offers you the convenience and information you need to manage your student's meal account. This system will eliminate the need to send checks to school or worry about lost or forgotten lunch money, and will speed up lines in the cafeteria.
At no cost, MyPaymentsPlus allows any family to:
- Create a free, secure account to manage your students' accounts
- Check your student's current account balance
- Monitor the items your student has been purchasing in the cafeteria
- Create settings to receive e-mail notifications when the account reaches a low balance
- Make a prepayment into your student's meal account using a check, credit card or debit card at www.mypaymentsplus.com. Funds deposited through MyPaymentsPlus are usually available for student use within a matter of minutes
- Create settings to automatically replenish your student's account when it reaches a low balance
WCPS encourages all parents (even if you do not prepay for your student's meal account) to create an account at no cost. To create a new account, follow the onscreen directions and register you student using their Student ID number.

How should I make my check out?
Checks need to be made out to “Alvaton Elementary” and must include either the child’s first and last name or their lunch number.
What is a student account?
A student account is set up for each child at the school. This includes preschool. Each student is assigned a specific lunch number and this number follows them throughout their years at Alvaton.
Can I come eat lunch with my child?
Visitors are welcome to eat with their children at any time during the child’s scheduled lunch time. No prior notice is required with the exception of event lunches such as Grandparent’s Day, Thanksgiving Meal, Christmas Meal, and the Easter Meal. On event days, reservations MUST be made in order to ensure that there is enough food for every one who is eating on that day.
What are the event days?
Event days include Grandparents Day, Thanksgiving meal, Christmas meal, and the Easter meal.
Why do I need to make reservations (R.S.V.P.) for meals on event days?
Reservations are needed for these event days in order to ensure that enough food is ordered to feed all that want to attend, in addition to feeding the students, faculty, and staff.
How can I make reservations for a meal on event days?
A letter will come home with your child weeks before the event. Please fill out the number of people that will be attending and send it back to the school by the due date. Call the Alvaton Cafeteria office at 745-0926 if you have any questions.
Can a parent pay for their lunch out of a student’s account?
Parents are not allowed to use the money in a student’s account to pay for their own meal. They must pay separately with a check or cash. Credit cards are NOT accepted.
Can my child buy ice cream and extras or a la carte?
A student can purchase ice cream and extras daily unless their student account has been blocked by the parent/guardian. They are only allowed to buy these for themselves.
Can my child buy ice cream or a la carte items if they have charges?
No. Ice cream or a la carte items cannot be bought by the student nor by a parent or grandparent until all charges are paid for.
What do I need to do to block my child’s account?
A parent/guardian can block their child’s account to prevent the child from making unnecessary purchases. The parent/guardian needs to call the Alvaton Cafeteria office at 270-745-0926. A student’s account can be blocked from purchasing extra items or ice cream. The parent/guardian needs to be specific if there are only certain items that the student is not allowed to buy.
What are extras or a la carte?
These are anything other than a meal.
Is milk considered an a la carte item?
Any milk that is not purchased with a meal is considered a la carte and will have a separate charge. This includes kindergarten snack time.
How can I see what is in my child’s student account?
You can call the Alvaton Cafeteria office at 745-0926 to get a print out of your child’s student account. Or you can access MyPaymentsPlus if you have registered for an online account.
Can I buy my child’s class ice cream for my child’s birthday?
Yes. The parent will need to come by the Alvaton cafeteria to speak with us. We will make sure that we have the type of ice cream that you want or coupons can be made in a particular monetary amount. That amount will be put in the students’ accounts in order for the children in the class to draw from. The student’s full name needs to be on the coupon so that the correct amount will be taken from the account. Call 745-0926 for more details.
Can I withdraw money from my child’s student account?
Not at the school. Once money is deposited in the child’s student account, it is not allowed to be withdrawn. Parents need to go to Food Service at Central Office on Lovers Lane to fill out a form for a refund. Please contact Gina Howard in Food Services at 781-5150.
